The Toefit-Plus is a modular joint replacement for the first metatarsophalangeal joint intended for use in patients with hallux rigidis or other destructive conditions of the joint. The components are modular and can be used for either hemi- or total joint replacement. The total joint includes a polyethylene articulation. Stems are titanium and uncemented; the bearing surface is cobalt- chrome.
A study of 23 patients demonstrated an improvement in functional outcomes and range of movement after total joint replacement at 18 months.1 Another study demonstrated similar results for hemi- and total joint replacements, but more loosening in the latter group.2
