From Which Medical Device
The Roto-glide Great Toe System from Implants International is a 3-part Anatomical Great Toe System which incorporates a sliding and rotating meniscus. The device is indicated in the treatment of osteoarthritis of the first metatarso-phalangeal joint. The device is uncemented and coated with Bio-Form (TM), a proprietary hydroxyapatite treatment.
In a presentation of a series of 36 patients with an early version of the device, insertion of the prosthesis was associated with an increase in the foot and ankle score. Two prostheses in this series were removed and two demonstrated subluxation of the meniscus. After this, the metatarsal component was modified.
