V scan seems to be a "practical tool" exactly as your sthetoscope. This little US scanner leads us into startrek trycorder mode allowing to confirm the presence of fluid collections or a suspect of cholecistitis. Distension of bladder by urine is easy to see, managing also a difficult foley catheter positioning.
At the present those scanners are offered with only one probe, future implements with a linear scanner may be useful to guide veinpuncture or to confirm thrombosis.
