This 9 minute video shows my technique for insertion of a pleurx drain for drainage of ascites. The other video here is an older version. The technique is essentially the same.
The advantage of the pleurx and other similar drains is that the patient can manage their ascites at home without the need for repeated hospital admissions. Please post any comments you may have on the usage of this device:
