This 18 minute video will take you through the process of PTC and stent insertion from local anaesthetic all the way through to plugging the tract with gelfoam at the end of the procedure. Only consider plugging if you are confident that there is good drainage and the patient is not septic. Otherwise leave in an external drainage tube as a minimum or internal/external drain so that access is maintained for further dilatation or stenting if required.
