This video demonstrates my most frequently used technique for nephrostomy insertion. Its based on the Seldinger technique. I tend to use a large 18g Cook 'diamond tip' needle as it is fairly rigid and less traumatic as it is non cutting. Those less confident should use a finer 20/22g needle eg Neff set.

sir if done under fluoroscopy only how much contrast should be used to opacify the system before definitive puncture . regards dr sonjjay
