From Which Medical Device
The Spacer K is a temporary implantable knee spacer, resembling an ultra-congruent condylar knee prosthesis and which is used in two stage revision of infected total knee replacements as part of an appropriate surgical and antibiotic regimen.
The components are designed to be fixed with cement. The device allows the joint space to be maintained, the knee to be mobilised and promotes the release of gentamicin within the joint.
The device comes in three sizes, and the chosen size should be close to the size of the explanted knee.
Weight bearing after implantation depends on the amount of residual bone stock.
This device is distributed by orthodynamics.
