From Which Medical Device

The Secure-C Cervical Artifical Disc is an FDA approved spinal implant designed as an alternative to fusion surgery in the cervical spine. The device is implanted to replace diseased or bulging disks and preserves range of motion in the spine. It comprises cobalt chromium molybdenum endplates with titanium plasma spray coating, with a core manufactured from ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene. Both components come in a range of sizes. The design allows constrained movement of up to 15 degrees flexion-extension and 10 degrees lateral bending, with unlimited axial rotation.

A postmarketing study is ongoing.
