Floseal from Baxter is a haemostatic matrix which can be applied to bleeding surfaces during surgery. Floseal comprises round-shaped gelatin granules which expand on contact with the wound and help to arrest bleeding (within 90 seconds according to the manufacturer). The product contains thrombin which is bovine in origin and is absorbed within 6-8 weeks.
Preparation should be straightforward and simply involves mixing the product between syringes.
