From Which Medical Device
The Compress Compliant Pre-Stress Implant is an anchorage system used in the replacement of the distal or the proximal femur, most often after massive tumour resection. The device includes a pre-stressed anchorage component which loads the cut end of the bone, encouraging bone hypertrophy. The short device requires a minimum of 46mm of fixation, and the system can be used to replace a minimum of 8cm of bone.
The Compress surgical technique brochure can be found here.
The Mini Compress Compliant Pre-Stress device is used in the humerus.
An operative technique brochure can be found here for use with the Comprehensive Segmental system and for the Mosaic Humeral Replacement here.
