Femoral stem - cemented
From Which Medical Device
The C-stem AMT (Articul/Eze 12/14 mini taper) total hip system from Depuy is a triple-tapered polished cemented stem for use in primary hip arthroplasty. As with other systems, the third taper runs from narrow medial to broad lateral, with the aim of improving load transfer proximally and improving rotational stability. This device is an evolution of the original C-stem, with changes to the taper in particular.
The device has an ODEP 3A rating (2011), and in the eighth report of the National Joint Registry of England and Wales had 3% of the market.
In the 2010 Joint Registry Report, the stem had a 1% (0.6 to 1.7%) 3 year revision rate.
The operative technique can be found here.
