Hyperselective hydrophilic braided radiopaque microcatheters for peripheral and extracranial procedures.
This is often our first choice of microcatheter. The end can be bent and a limited amount of torque can be applied for really tricky angulations. Some versions come with their own wire. This has a torque device that is fixed to the distal end of the wire. This allows for flushing of the catheter whilst the wire is within the catheter. The disadvantage of this arrangement is that you cannot control the catheter and wire with one hand whilst the wire is just protruding from the end of the catheter as the torque device is too far away. (Your other hand is usually needed to control the standard guiding catheter). Thankfully there are versions of the progreat where the wire is not supplied and you can use other 0.018 inch guidewires which allow for a movable torque device.
The 2.4 F comes without guidewire. The 2.7 comes with wire and the higher flow 2.8F can be supplied with or without the wire. The wires have a radio opaque distal gold tip.
When using a separate wire I tend to use the Radifocus GT wire (0.012" and 0.016"). This is available with a single angle or double angle which I find can be very useful in some situations. Our pricing agreement allows for the micro catheter and separate GT wire to be supplied at the same cost as the Progreat with wire included. This is the ideal solution for our practice.
