Description

From Which Medical Device

The KnifeLight from Stryker is an illuminated knife designed for carpal tunnel release procedures. The device is a single-use instrument, and the illumination allows visualisation of the distal third of the transverse carpal ligament.

One randomised controlled trial (Bhattacharya R, 2004) demonstrated less scar tenderness with the Knifelight technique. Another cadaveric study demonstrated complete release without injury to other anatomical structures (Teh KK, 2009).

Which Medical Device of the Year 2011

We liked the simplicity of the idea and the fact it appears to be safe and has published results.” - Mr Craig Gerrand, Editor-in-Chief. Read more
