Transjugular Liver Biopsy
From Which Medical Device
The Cook biopsy set is most often used for transjugular liver biopsy. It consists of a preshaped metal needle guide that is inserted over a central plastic catheter over a guidewire usually placed in the right hepatic vein for liver biopsy. The supplied spring loaded biopsy needle is passed down the metal guide once the guide is in position to take the biopsy.
The kit contains much of the same equipment as the Cook TIPSS set.
