From Which Medical Device
The device is designed to fragment stones in the urinary tract.
Powered by a detachable carbon dioxide gas cartridge, it transfers kinetic energy through the probe to the tip which is in direct contact with the stone to be fragmented. A mechanical shock wave is generated when the trigger is depressed and expended gas leaves the device through an exhaust port and the exhaust line.
The device was previously marketed by the Laryngeal Mask Company Limited but is now sold by Cook Medical.
