Description

From Which Medical Device

The eLibra Dynamic Knee Balancing System is an electronic pressure sensor intended to assist surgeons in ensuring ligament balance during knee replacement. The concept is that after the distal femoral and proximal tibial cuts, the device measures the pressures in the medial and lateral compartments and the rotation of the femoral component is determined in order to equalise these pressures. This technique may reduce the need for ligament release, in particular lateral release for patellar tracking (Fetto 2011).
