The Pogo Screw is a spring loaded device which is inserted over a guide wire. It is designed to apply constant compression across an operative fracture site, encourage bone remodelling and reducing problems with screws backing out. Apparently, it removes the need to have a full inventory of screw lengths.
The screws are 7.5 mm diameter, with lengths ranging from 55 to 120 mm. During implantation, the screw extends by 5 or 10mm depending on screw size. This lengthening loads the internal spring which provides the compressive force across the fracture. We could not find any published results at the time of writing.
