From Which Medical Device
Boston Scientific showed the latest version of the Angiojet Ultra at CIRSE 2016, in Barcelona. They claim it can work in vessels down to 1.5mm diameter using their 3F/4F Solent Dista catheter. The system can work in 2 modes, standard active aspiration and power pulse mode to deliver lytic rapidly into the thrombus.
We say, “The AngioJet has been instrumental in removing thrombus in numerous patients with occluded distal arteries, coronary arteries and AV dialysis fistulas and grafts.”

A system for restoring blood flow to thrombosed arteries and veins. It has integrated disposables and a fast set-up.
The device works by injection of high pressure heparinised saline which is also aspirated along with thrombus. During this process there is some haemolysis and care must be taken with the patient's potassium level. The AngioJet can be used in prosthetic grafts and native vessels.
There are a range of state-of-the-art catheters available which enable clinicians to select the length, diameter and clot removal power appropriate for the patient. Some of the most recent additions are the Solent Omni and Solent Proxi.
